Woolyungah Indigenous Centre (WIC) provide a number of programs, services and facilities to encourage and support tertiary education amongst Indigenous Australians. Despite it’s primary purpose of supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students throughout their journey at UOW, WIC often acts as a gathering place for many. Throughout the year the students of Woolyungah Indigenous Centre run free student social BBQs. This weekly event is often a great opportunity for all members of Woolyungah, both new and old to meet and yarn with one another.

The Southern Downs Regional Council was formed on the 15th of March 2008 as an outcome of the Queensland Local Government Reform process. Hughenden is situated on the banks of the Flinders River, Queensland longest river. Hughenden has direct road access to a number of major centres and tourist attractions within the region.
